In Workplaces
Most Americans spend more waking hours at work than anywhere else. If we remake our workplaces to support healthy habits, we can lower health care costs, increase productivity and help our employees lead healthier, happier lives. Here’s how it’s working for a few of our partners.
Wellpoint
The country’s largest insurer is conducting research on a Healthy Monday pilot program with Dr. Larry Cheskin of the Johns Hopkins Weight Management Center. The goal is to see if Healthy Monday message and promotions can motivate healthy behaviors and increase participation in existing wellness programs.
Healthy@Hopkins
Healthy@Hopkins is the worksite wellness program at Johns Hopkins, the largest employer in Baltimore. They currently feature Meatless Monday in their medical center cafeteria and have Monday Miles marked throughout the campus. The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Schools of Public Health recently launched a weekly series of Healthy Monday tips written by the school’s faculty.
Meatless Monday at Work
Meatless Monday has become popular in corporate cafeterias nationwide including Rodale, WellPoint, Bank of America and GE. Companies see Meatless Monday as a natural fit with their wellness programs which promote healthy, nutritious food options.
