Meatless Monday Celebrates 100 Years!

December 7th, 2017

Meatless Monday originated in the fall of 1917 during World War I. When the United States was trying to feed its citizens and troops, food rationing was a necessity. The concept was sold as a patriotic way to support soldiers by making a sacrifice one day a week. Today we celebrate 100 years of what is now a global movement. Many people and institutions from all over the world practice Meatless Monday to promote healthy eating and sustainability. Want to learn more? Watch this video! The Monday Campaigns founder talks about how it all got started and what it means today.
