New Jersey Raises Smoking Age to 21

After some deliberation, New Jersey has joined California and Hawaii in raising the minimum smoking age to 21. The law took effect November 1st of this year.  Republican Gov. Chris Christie signed the bill into law in July. According to, Christie cited the strain on the health care system caused by tobacco-related illnesses when he made his decision. Read more here.
