Healthy Monday - Week 24
Meatless Monday Made Easy
Welcome to the last week of your Healthy Monday wellness program! This week, we’re looking at the benefits for eating less meat and easy ways to add meatless meals to your day.
Try this week’s practice below and then share your feedback about how you did.
This week we’re going to focus on healthy eating through practicing Meatless Monday. Meatless Monday encourages swapping out meat once a week and incorporating more plant-based food choices.
Cutting down on meat can be great for your health. Eating a more plant-based diet may contribute to a lower risk of several preventable diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes. In addition to being a great way to follow a healthy diet, cutting back on your meat consumption is also beneficial to the health of the planet. Global meat production accounts for more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere than vegetables; it also uses more water and fuel than plants.
Meatless Monday is offered in NewYork-Presbyterian hospital cafeterias as part of the hospital network’s commitment to health and environmental sustainability. Go Meatless Monday today and every Monday!
