These 4 Free Apps Can Help You Quit Smoking

Your smart phone is a powerful tool that can help you order dinner, find fastest route home, or shop for your next fall outfit, but did you know that it can also help you quit smoking?

Since our cell phones are almost always at our sides, downloading a tobacco cessation app is a convenient way to find support and stay connected with other smokers going through similar experiences.

Quit apps tend to be more accessible and user-friendly than other types on online tobacco cessation materials, and studies suggest that using these apps can help smokers make informed choices that ultimately lead to a longer sustained quit. But with countless smart phone apps available for download, how do you know which ones to choose?

Well, we’ve done the research and created a list of our favorite free tobacco cessation apps that will help you kick the habit. This Monday, check out the app store and start downloading.

 

quitSTART

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the leading national public health institute of the United States, released their free quitSTART App to help individuals quit smoking with tailored tips, information, and inspirational messaging. It also helps monitor your progress and earn badges for reaching milestones and other achievements.

 

QuitGuide

The QuitGuide is a free app that helps you understand your smoking patterns and build the skills needed to become and stay smoke free. Use the app to track your cravings by time of day and location, and get motivational messages for each craving you track.

 

Smoke Free

The Smoke Free free app allows you to log your cravings and get tips on dealing with them. You can use the map feature to see where these cravings congregate, and identify solutions to dealing with them. There’s also a premium version that costs 99 cents per week that grants you access to more specialized features.

 

My QuitBuddy

Although only available for the iPhone, the Quit Buddy app is a fun way to make progress towards your tobacco-free goal. Regardless of what stage you are in your quit journey, My QuitBuddy can be customized to help you stay smoke free by keeping you motivated and your goals on track.
