Want to be smoke-free? It may take a combination of therapies before you can successfully quit and stay quit. Use this Monday to strengthen your quit.

According to the Mayo Clinic, 5% percent of smokers who go cold turkey succeed at quitting and staying quit, yet over 30% of people successfully quit with just one quit product. If you use a suite of solutions, you could increase your odds for success even more. Here are some suggestions of things you can try alone or in combination to set yourself up for a permanent, smoke-free life:

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). Many successful quitters have found NRT works to address physical dependence and withdrawal symptoms. These drugs could become an essential part of your quit and stay quit strategy. Consult a doctor and see what over-the-counter or prescribed NRT could work for you.

Mobile Options. Always available, always reliable. Whether you’re on an iPhone or an Android, you can leverage the 24/7 options available to you in free quit apps or texting programs. Studies suggest quit apps provide a user-friendly option for smokers ready to quit.  Try one of Smokefree.gov’s free apps or texting programs to get started!

Find a Quit Buddy. Studies show some people might have better success if they quit with a buddy. Think about the people or community around you and see how you can support one another.
