About Move It Monday
Move It Monday encourages people of all fitness levels to use Monday to jump start each week with practical, simple exercises to get moving. While the current Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommend adults get at least 2.5 hours of physical activity each week, many people struggle with dedicating the time and space to keeping this commitment. Move It Monday makes it easier to take the first step toward moving more, and more consistently.

Research shows that people select Monday as the day they’re most likely to start an exercise routine. And those who start each week with physical activity describe being more likely to continue throughout the rest of the week.
Move It Monday offers program guides, practices, inspiration, and creative communications to help individuals, worksites, schools, and communities seamlessly incorporate physical activity into their weekly routines. With our academic partners and physical activity experts, we’ve developed a library of resources for improving flexibility, building strength, and increasing endurance. Among this material, we offer unique content such as the Monday Mile, chair yoga, and group challenges, all designed to help people start and sustain their healthy behavior.

The New York City Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities partnered with Move it Monday to organize a Monday Mile kickoff event promoting inclusive physical activity.
Move it Monday partnered with Healthy Monday Syracuse to implement Monday Mile programming across two counties in upstate New York. In total, 23 one-mile walking routes were strategically mapped around Onondaga and Madison to improve accessibility and access.
Senior leadership from NYU Langone partnered with The Monday Campaigns to set up a weekly Monday Mile program to encourage hospital employees to start off each week with a specially-designated walking route through the hospital.
