Move It Monday and commit to staying fit throughout the week.

The CDC recommends 2 ½ hours of physical activity each week, but for many it’s a challenge to keep up an exercise routing. Move It Monday can be used by businesses, schools and communities to encourage people to start the week by taking the stairs, going to the gym or doing a Monday Mile – and to commit to staying active throughout the week.

More people start a new exercise routine on Monday than any other day. When asked what day of the week they were most likely to start a new exercise routine, a 2014 FGI Survey found that people overwhelmingly chose Monday as their preferred day of the week.

People go to the gym more at the beginning of the week. Check-in data from gyms shows that people are more likely to go to the gym on a Monday than later in the week. Gyms also reported that people who come in on a Monday are more likely to come in other days of the week as well.
